Nordic Update with Mike Seeger

January 4,5.2009

OUTLOOK:  Gorgeous day to ski here at nordic land.  Bright sunshine and moderate temps--mid twenties, and light wind finally.  Expect some clouds and maybe a flurry for Monday temps mid 30s.  Tuesday looks sunny again low 20s.

Trails Update:  Snow surfaces are a sugary powder granular mix.  Skate skiers have a marvelous platform everywhere.  Classic skiers deep, crisp tracks most places. Expect some woody twigs and small branches around the neighborhood.Skiers waxing for grip should plan to use a base binder under hard wax as the snow is abrasive.    The Golf Course is open but windblown and thin snow in places.  We suggest the Lower Criterion extension rather than  Roadside for getting from the Nordic Center to the Golf Course. Reports are that Cascade Brook is skiing quite well...though groomers have been through the trail beyond Jct 29 has thin snow cover and is not safe to ski at present.   Lower Snows is also fun with just one or two open drainages.  All newly opened trails should be skied cautiously.   Check conditions page for details.

2008-09 NORDIC SEASON PASS....   Ski this year at last year's prices.  Yup,  the Nordic Season Pass for the 2008-9 season will cost you the same as it did this year.   Call us crazy and maybe we are all caught up in the great season we are having but we are going to hold the line.  Yeah diesel has gone up etc etc., but we are relying on the fact that you will be back with us in force.  Remember that you can pick up your pass at the Season Pass office, not at the Nordic Center.
